It doesn't matter what the exercise is as long as you get your heart rate up. You may love the idea of yoga, or perhaps you prefer weight lifting. Some people like to take classes, while others prefer solitary runs. No matter what it is, get out there and break a sweat!

3. Time Management

We live in a fast paced world, no doubt about it. One of the things that we often find stressful is not being able to be where we need to be and on time.

If you are late constantly, remember that timeliness is just a habit. Realistically budget your time and make sure that you always leave early. Just dealing with this issue can help out a great deal.

4. Avoid Stimulants

Stimulants are meant to key you up and give you a surge of artificial energy. This surge of energy doesn’t last long and has a long term negative effect on your adrenal glands. Stay away from processed sugar, tobacco, and caffeine, especially.

5. Breathing Exercises

One thing that makes stress worse is shallow breathing. When you are feeling stressed out, take the time to breath deeply and evenly. You will find that you are regaining some measure of control just by controlling your breath. Learn some breathing techniques and take control of your stress levels.

6. De-clutter – 3 for 1 stress reliever

One of the ways how to reduce stress is to do something proactive. My favorite is: cleaning the clutter around my house. This is a 3 for 1 stress reliever, because:

  1. You get to work physically and burn off some excess energy.
  2. You get a clean room in the end.
  3. Cleaning lets you focus on an immediate task which keeps you in the present moment.

7. Have Some Fun!

No matter who you are, or what you like, there are probably activities that relax you and that you enjoy. Take some time to figure out what hobbies or activities bring you a feeling of peace and relaxation. Having fun is not “wasting time”; it is simply an investment in your own well-being.
