Not Thinking of Others
It drives me crazy when people don't realize that their actions can have effects on others.
This can be taken in a more serious manner, IE people acting abusive or mistreating others, but I mean it even on a simpler level than that.
For example, people who drive recklessly or don't pay attention to where they are going. Just because you don't feel like watching the road, or because you think your phone call is important, someone else might have to suffer major consequences because of your action.
Is your phone call worth the fact that you might cause an accident that means someone else will get killed, or never walk again? Was it that important?
This is incredibly self-centered behavior and it absolutely drives me nuts. I wish people would slow down and realize that their smallest actions can have huge implications for others.
They only think of how it will affect them and what they want, and a lot of really tragic things happen as a result. If that's too heavy, then you can look at it in a simpler way too: how about when someone cuts in front of you in line in the grocery store?
They are only thinking of what they want out of that situation without realizing the implications it might have for you. You have places to be, too, you've been waiting patiently, and now you are going to be late.
It's the attitude that one's personal needs are more important than anyone else's that drives me crazy.
I hate this and think if we all just slowed down and thought about how we might affect others – whose stories we don't even know – the world would be a much better place.
Maybe that person in line at the grocery store is on their way to see a sick relative and needs that time. How do you know that's more important than whatever you have going on? If you need in front of me that badly, ask me. I will probably let you if you have a good reason.
We're all human and we all have to share the planet, and nobody exists in a vacuum, but it drives me personally crazy when people act as though they do. Everything you do can (and does) affect someone else.
